A contour line joins locations having the same height above the mean sea level. The following is a contour plot of a geographical region. Contour lines are shown at $25$ m intervals in this plot.

The path from $P$ to $Q$ is best described by

  1. Up-Down-Up-Down
  2. Down-Up-Down-Up
  3. Down-Up-Down
  4. Up-Down-Up

If we look closely at the contours and the given info that contours are placed at “25 m” difference in altitude level,we can observe that P is located little above 575 m above sea level.

  1. It goes down from 575 m to 500 m.
  2. It then goes up and crosses 575 m mark on the other side as can be observed from the picture.
  3. Then it goes down from 575 m and crosses 550 m.

So the sequence is <Down,up,Down>
