Let radix = r

 

Then,

 (137)r + (276)r = (435)r

 

In decimal system,

=> (r²+3r+7) + (2r²+7r+6) = (4r²+3r+5)

=> (r²+2r²)+(3r+7r)+(7+6) = 4r²+3r+5

=> 3r²+10r+13 = 4r²+3r+5

=> 3r²+10r+13 -4r²-3r-5 = 0

=> -r² +7r +8 = 0

=> r²-7r-8 = 0

=> r²-8r+r-8 = 0

=> r(r-8) +1(r-8) = 0

=> (r-8)(r+1) =0

So r = 8 as radix can't be negative.

Base of number system is 8 ie, octal number system is given. So in octal number system 731 + 672 is 1623.
